China Beach Vietnam Should be a Familiar Name...

China beach Vietnam once served as an Oasis from the calamity of the Vietnam war.

Many American troops stationed in Danang spent their R&R time on the 30km long beach that stretches all the way down to Cua Dai beach in Hoi An.

The waves are larger than any other Vietnam beach and thus great for surfers, kitsurfing, or just anyone who loves a gorgeous beach. The beach was well famous for its surf even back during the Vietnam war.

The local Vietnamese population refer to it as My Khe beach.

The Beach is also within cycling distance of Da Nang and thus makes for a great day trip for anyone either in Danang city or even Hoi An city to the South.

China Beach Danang, Vietnam

Vietnam's China Beach was ranked among the 'World's Most Luxurious Beaches' by Forbes magazine. They ranked it alongside some of the world's most well-known beaches.

The Forbes magazine list also includes such stunningly beautiful beaches as Bondi Beach in Sydney, Grace Bay Beach in the Turks and Caicos Islands, South Beach in Miami, Plage de Pampelonne in St Tropez and Wailea beach in Hawaii.

I dunno if I would go that far, but it is a nice beach. It's not worth making a specific trip to Danang for but if you are interested in visiting Danang for the Cham Museum and the Marble Mountains then add China Beach to your list.

But again, I wouldn't make a special trip there just to see this beach. No offence to Forbes magazine but the beaches in Thailand and even Cambodia are better places to spend your time.

Danang and China Beach are right at the center of four World Heritage Sites.

They are the ancient port of Hoi An, the spiritual centre of the Champa civilization in My Son, the ancient Capital city of Hue and the Phong Nha caves in Dong Hoi.

There are always sides to beautiful places that are not nice. China beach is a tourist draw and that in turn also draws beggars and others wanting to cash in on the "rich" tourists.

Some of the beggars and scammers will quickly move if you are stern with them but that is not often the case. Some beggars are very aggressive at China Beach and will not leave you alone. Having said that, very rare are the occurances of encounters that turn violent.

Just be aware that beggars and scam artists abound at China beach and detract from the beauty of the place. Such is life though and it is not enough to suggest you avoid this stunning place.

The best time to visit the beach is between May and October.

Here's a short Video of China beach, Vietnam on a cloudy day. It's always more beautiful in real life.
