Hanoi to Siem Reap
by: beatriz

Hi Philip,

Am interested in going from hanoi, siem reap, bangkok, then to kuala lumpur.

Please let me know about the train ride from Hanoi to siem reap as well as the rest of the trip if you know of fast trains. Only have roughly one week.

Thank you

I assume you are starting from Hanoi? It is not so easy to get to Siem Reap from Hanoi.

You've got Laos in the way.

I got on a bus in Hanoi and headed to Viang Chan, the Capital City of Laos. From there it took me 2 more days to get to Siem Reap by bus through beautiful countryside and one village I can't remember the name of.

In other words, it's not a trip for the rushed.

I hope you get on an airplane. The North, with exception to Thailand, well, sucks. You are so isolated up there.

To get to Angkor Wat from Hanoi, overland, is a real pain if you are in any hurry.

One week. You don't have the time. I suggest staying in the South or Central parts of Vietnam, Loas or Cambodia. There is so much to see that a week is barely enough for a trip to Ko Chang and back.

Good Luck, Philip
