People usually say the same thing after they travel Asia for the first time.
Then we keep saying it over and over until the end of time.
'It was an adventure that changed my life' and 'Once it's in your blood, you're hooked for life'.
Why travel through Asia, though?
It's simply the last place besides South America where a Budget traveler can live quite well on a tight budget. Who wants to go on holiday without the money to enjoy it?

If you really loved or hated a Hotel In Saigon, Vietnam then upload a photo of it, type its location details and your story into a text box and hit the Upload button. That's it. You've now built a web Page.
Whatever you write or whatever pictures you upload get made into a web page that is yours to edit and control as you like. Your name can also be attached as the author of the material.
Or you can do it all anonymously. Check out this Vietnam travel Web Page built by a 14 year old!
She knew very little about how the Internet works yet she managed to build her own web Page that so far has been read by over 900 people. It's that easy and you'll never be asked for contact details or personal information.
Anyone can access your Web Page from anywhere in the world and all you have to do is know how to type. It takes no more than 15 minutes and it's free to use!
It's all done with a single click of a button. It's even been Grandma approved by my Grandmother. She said "Wow, I didn't know it was so easy to build a web Page.
The idea is to have a Web Site where anyone in the world can come and help fellow travelers by adding their voice to the site. It would also make for a good place to get real travel Asia information from the Gurus out there who have been there and done it.
It's a reassuring thing to read the words and recommendations of others who've been there. That's especially true for people traveling on their own.
If all goes well, you won't need to buy one of those Travel Asia Guidebooks.
You might have already bought one of those high priced guidebooks. I did my first time. Those books ARE informative but they're like the lady next door who keeps peering through the drapes and telling the neighbors all your secrets.
As soon as any Hotel, Restaurant or Tour Operator makes it into the vaulted pages of this Travel Asia Guidebook, or that Budget Travel Asia Book, they quickly raise their prices to meet the stampede of tourists that soon follow.
It's big money for the major travel Asia guidebooks and their clientele. Meanwhile you're stuck in line paying premium costs and being herded to 'Recommended Attractions' and staying in 'Recommended Hotels'.
That was how I traveled Asia for years until I found myself in Shanghai, China at 1AM in the morning begging for a discount on a $50 a night room. It was a youth hostel (The Captain Hostel) that I had selected from the 'Budget Section' of my guidebook.
$50USD a night for a 'budget hostel'?
"No Discount!"' Fired the receptionist. "We now famous place!"
"Yes", I see. Page 138."
I walked out of there in a huff but the adrenaline of my anger helped me lug my huge backpack. I lugged that thing strapped to my sore back from one Hostel to the next.
It was hell but I found some of the most amazing, out of the way places on the streets of Shanghai at 1AM in the morning.
It wasn't until I took a wrong turn and got lost that I finally found a decent hotel. It had a clean bed, a toilet, heat and hot water.
P>It was a really nice little room and it was $12USD a night. Of course, it was not listed in my Travel Asia Guidebook.
Done. And that's all I needed.
I'll share with you as much as I can about what I learned during the numerous 11 block walks I have taken in many cities throughout Asia over the past 7 years.
I hope it will be of some help and maybe some others will add their expertise.
Here is the New Year's celebration in the city of Saigon, (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam in January, 2007.
And the next day I took this video of a traditional Vietnamese Lion Dance.
