Otres Beach Sihanoukville - The Best of the Cambodia Beaches?

Few people seem to bother with Otres Beach Sihanoukville.

It's more of a challenge to get to than any of the other Cambodia Beaches around Sihanoukville and still quite underdeveloped compared to the other Cambodia beaches.

I mean underdeveloped because you won't find the multitude of restaurants or pubs...or practically any facilities of all that you would easily find on Occheuteal Beach in Sihanoukville.

That's what makes it a great beach in my book. I grant it the best Cambodia beach in Sihanoukville because of the lack of crowds.

Sound appealing? Good, But don't spread the word too much.

I usually rent a motorbike in Sihanoukville and make the drive out to Otres Beach for my sun and solitude fix.

It's a nice way to spend the day just sitting under a thatched umbrella, sipping a cold beer and looking out onto the water as you decide what to order from the restaurant.

The sparse selection of bars and restaurants are all clustered at the far end of the beach. Some include the Star Bar, Cantina Del Mar and the Daiquiri Hut.

Each restaurant keeps a scattering of umbrellas on the beach in front of their restaurant. There is also a place where you can rent small boats and even a kayak if you are feeling adventurous and somewhat in shape.

Star Bar is one of the best places that offer bungalows for rent. These bungalows are right on the beach, within 100 yards of the lapping waves of Otres Beach, Sihanoukville.

I have not stayed in the bungalows at Star Bar but I had a look at them. They are very basic but worth it just for the waking up in the morning to the sound of the ocean waves lapping onto the shoreline on Otres Beach Sihanoukville.

You can't book rooms online but they are priced between $15USd and $18USD a night. Give them a call at (017) 387 620 if you want to book a room.

Otres Beach Sihanoukville is the last beach to the South or at the bottom left of the Sihanoukville Map. You can easily get there on a motorbike you rent in Sihanoukville or just by taking a Motorbike Taxi.

Just drive over Victory Hill from Ochheuteal Beach and you can cut through Queen Hill Resort at the top of the hill and you'll arrive at Otres Beach, Sihanoukville once you get to the bottom of the hill.

By car (For whimps too frightened to rent a motorbike). You have to head down Kanda street until it comes to an end or a 'T'. Go left, continue over the bridge for about another Kilometer before arriving at Otres Beach, Sihanoukville.

You should see a sign directing you to turn left. From there it is under a minutes drive to Otres Beach sihanoukville.

The beach is much quieter during the low season. Especially when compared to the rest of Sihanoukville. Many places actually close up shop but this is the best time to go because the price on everything, including accommodation is slashed.

But this is changing every year as Otres Beach Sihanouville becomes more and more popular.

So get there as soon as you can because it won't be long before the pace is sold off to a developer and all will be lost.

Sure, it is more difficult than most but well worth it to get away from the topless 300lbs, 50 year old gentlewomen cougars on the main Beaches.
